Digits, How much do you expect to gain financially by this crossbow season??
I have been in the guiding business for 10 years. I have had FEW(<10) people call wanting to crossbow hunt in those years, even though these people were disabled.
In 10 years I have had 1 person call wanting to come crossbow hunting!!!
Doesn't seem like there's that much interest in the sport to me!!!

Why would anyone want to come crossbow hunting with the season as it is now? That's your answer.
As for HOW MUCH, this isn't about personal gain on my part. Sorry to bust your bubble.

Is it one person in ten yrs or ten people in ten years? And the remark about how much multi expects to gain financially marks you as just another name change artist.

I bet ya Multi makes a heck of a lot less than the fellow who pays for our little playground here. Why don't ya call up Uncle Lee and ask how much he expects to make.

Since the crossbow was only legela for a time of the year that is not all that condusive to archery hunting why would you think there would be a lot of folks using them?
Since most of us are hunters first and lovers of our equipment second , or third or whatever it make good sense that people will not flock to a huntng tool unless it is legal and legal in it'sappropriate season.
Once the crossbow takes it's rightful place in all of archery season the people that are hunters and some that are not will take a interest in it.
Thoe numbers you cited will increase.

Good post Willie, I'm thinking without a "fair trial" , specualtion is.....well.....speculation at best?
I think after it's "all said and done", most will agree it was good for our sport, and THAT should be what IS important IMHO!!!
If not, then with facts one can attack with purpose, and gain real support????
"Bashing" OTHER HUNTERS serves no good purpose IMHO, and instead of being thankful for all the time archery was no xbows, stating opinions such as "xbows aren't archery"(if not then what??????......they ARE and I seriously doubt anyone here doesn't know that FACT)
To label a "fellow hunter" as a "slob" etc. etc. because they CHOOSE to use a legal weapon(x-bow, modern muzzleloader etc. etc.) only makes enemies from OUR own group......
If it's legal, and YOU choose to hunt with/without it, that is your right(and mine, and everyone else's as well????)....
At a point when we should seriously try to stick together, ALWAYS, some make a simple weapon law change into a "name calling match", or an "my way is the ONLY way to do this": how/whom does this help???? NOT us IMHO
But no......not gonna happen??? Let's destroy ourselves from within our own ranks????
Sad ,very sad indeed!
IMHO

ITS ALL ABOUT OPPORTUNITY at least they have the choice if they desire. the whole argument is getting old if the xbow brings more new hunters to the folds of hunting . that is good for hunting as a whole. i'm sure it will bring more pressure in spots but i think it is worth the gain over all. if there isnt a rush to buy xbows and no influx of new hunters then it will be a mute point on both sides. this past weekend i helped to introduce 8 young hunters to the sport of turkey hunting. yes this put more pressure on my honey hole, and they could have severely put a hurting on the population of this area. was it worth it H#LL YES. what if the new xbow season was for youth only would you still complain. (probably not) but the premise is the same. new hunters doing what we all are supposed to love HUNTING

All old turkeys were youths at one time. Got anything else meaningful to add?

Good deal on the youth hunters! We all have been working (including the UBK) to add new meat to the number of hunters in Ky. Now, when something positive comes along that can actually do the job, we have a bunch wanting to go the other way? doesn't make much good sense does it?

Was in Corbin today, and talked in depth to a dealer there, and guess what???? X-bow sales are UP!! And several have bought for their children/grandchildren to practise with early!!!!!
Also many older hunters(yes many qualified for the exemption, but said they just didn't want the "hassle" of that, but NOW they are buying!!!!
Thought I'd add that for those who actually care about adding hunters to our ranks!!
:)

I crossbow hunt with a handicapped permit in both Indiana and KY.
It doesn't bother me when I get funny stares from people when I get out of my truck and uncase my crossbow. BUT - for SOME it is a stigma and a hassle to have to get a handicapped permit.
In Indiana I have to get a form from the IDNR, go to the doctor ($100) and get examined. He then fills out the form. I send it in and wait to see if it is acceptable.
For KY I have to get the form, go to the Doctor ($100) and get examined. He then fills out the form. This time I just have to keep that form in my pack when I am hunting with my crossbow.
It is a hassle and some say, ”to heck with it”. Plus the stigma of being “handicapped” in order to use the crossbow turns some people off. They just flat quit rather than be made to feel they are less than others..
Make it legal for everyone and that hassle and stigma goes away.
Yes, it is PROVEN that crossbows not only get the young into the game of hunting but also retains older bowhunters. TRUE FACTS..

Thanks for sharing with us(what I was also told today)
.........Not to mention, the $100 in doctor fees one can now save to spend on actual hunting expenses!!!(another plus IMHO)
