Can someone tell me a salaried member of the KDFW that was in favor of the proposed change in the 2005 2006 archery season?

It is my understanding the staff i.e. was neutral, meaning they didnt have an opinion and unless im mistaken the comissioner cannot influence the commission he can only table ideas for discussion. So who does that leave when you say plenty of them? I think that is a very important question that needs to be addressed. And what is the motive? The department has stated numberous times that resource numbers are or are reaching the levels they want to see.
If you hunt in counties that have moved up in zone, don’t be alarmed. We have been very successful at growing deer herds in certain counties, and now they need to be controlled.
The partnership of hunters and the KDFWR is doing a great job managing deer in Kentucky........
Now before you start with your demagoguery those last two sentences were from the
KDFW and can be found on their website......

You've got a lot to learn if you think the power of the Commissioner doesn't filter in to the Commission and beyond. As we were told, everything in Froankfort is political. That includes the KYDFWR.

So now that the Great Multidigits has admitted that this was a political hack job my the KDFW does he think the Sportsmen of Ky should sit on their arse and do nothing about to prevent it from happing again. I would suggest to you that is how and why this "railroad job" took place to begin with. By the way Multi......why dont you make that statement to someone like former Commissioner McCormick?

Who said it was a "hack job"?? Not me. I've seen some of those and this wasn't one of them. In fact, the oppisition asked many good questions and the data and biological info was all on the favor of the pro-crossbow crowd.
As for your comments, I'll add those to the ones we send the Commissioners to show them what the anti-crossbow groups thinks about them. It should go over real well.
As I said, the Commission is appointed by the Gov., they along with the Commissioner work closely with the Legislature and with the Gov. on many issues. they are powerful people and demand a little respect. Your side has shown none. I think it will have an impact on the future of the crossbow in Ky.
You'll have to explain what McCormicj has to do with it, becuase you've lost me?

If your so smart why don't you call (insert name her) and get on the side of (insert group here).
By the way (insert opposition name her) I'm glad we see eye to eye on this (insert topic here).

When the rest of the sporting community finds out that they have expanded opportunities this fall, the crossbow issue will be very popular.
I talked to an official in Ohio last week. He said "We went through the same thing here in Ohio almost 30 years ago. The bowhunting groups got vocal and made *explitive" out of themselves. But, time went by, nobody suffered any ill effects."

I have enclosed one of the Pm's I keep getting on the xbow issue. This is one of the cleanest ones so i think I can post it here. It is obvious some selfish bowhunters are trying to steal almost 100 days of archery hunting from xbow users. The Commission said I could have the full archery season, but these "elitists" don't want anyone messing with their playhouse, not even the people who manage our wildlife resources. I hope you get the same message from this PM as i did. btw this one is from maxcam.
The following is not my opinion but maxcams.
"What do you mean take away your hunting privileges?
Last time I checked crossbow hunters were allowed 44 days in the field. Does the fact that the KDFW biologist says there is a real good chance that the pressures on the wild turkey could be such that a decline in the amount of opportunity to harvest a bird could be in jeopardy......Who is going to lost their privileges then? How does that make you feel? Why cant you guys admit this was a railroad job by the commissioners office that was industry lead. Hell half the guys in this forum arent even from Kentucky. They are political hacks from the industry. You need to open your eyes about what is really taking place on this matter. I dont care what weapon you decide to use. If you want more days in the field become proficient with all of them.
And if you are handicapped then apply for a permit.
Dont sell out the resources (availible land, turkey, bucks) for your own selfish gain. As far as April 22 goes I will be there. I will not sit and allow a state agency run rough shot over the citizens of the state."

Commissioner Gailor was asked that specifically at the 3rd Dist. Federation meeting. He didn't answer for a while, but when the question was brought up again, he simply said it was people from the "staff".
I've heard other reports who claim that it was Tom Bennett who backed this, but I haven't spoken to Tom about it so I don't know.

Commissioner Gailore was told that the staff (i.e. the biologists) was neutral.
I talked to Jim Lane personally about what Gailore said and he again said his reccommendation was neutral.
