I think the same camera is regularly priced at $200 in Cabelas, so it's still a deal, just not as good as they are leading you to believe.

Does anyone know if this one is as good as the Moultrie Digital that Walmart now carries? I think I'm still gonna build one anyway.

From what I have heard about the Moultrie is that the flash isnt all that good and they are having problems reading certain memory cards. As for the Stealth it has mixed reviews but In my opinion building you one would be the your best bet. You will get better pictures, better battery life and the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

Just my opinion.

Tony, i have heard of it being done but im not for sure what type of trailcamera it was. It would be best to go to the links here and ask these guys. The problem you have is the timeing of the board, the 35 mm stay on and the digitals are on/off type cameras to save battery life.

here are the links

I believe that's the model below the digital stealth cam I bought. The one that I bought (a DIGRC-XTR) is an absolute piece of junk. On several occasions, I'd leave it out for a week. When I returned, I'd have to replace the 8 dead batteries to even view the pics. Sometimes, I'd have over 100 pictures. At least 90% of those pictures would be of nothing at all. On other occasions, I'd return to dead batteries after only 3 days. I'd replace them and find that the camera only took 8-12 pictures before killing the batteries. Five of those pictures would again be of nothing at all and the rest might have a few deer on it. In the end, I was spending about $8 a week just to keep the unit charged up with batteries, and getting virtually nothing in the way of results. I had the unit in the woods more than 40 days last season, and I got maybe 20 picture of deer. I was getting literally hundreds of pics with my other units. Moreover, Stealthcam's customer service dept was completely unhelpful and belligerent. I would not recommend a digital Stealth cam to anyone.
