Got me one today. Looks to be a nice bow. Well made and simple to use, once you get it cocked. It'll be a while before I get to mess with it. I'll holler how it works out.
:D

are you using a rope cocking device or mounted crank.
Is the cocking so negative that it would detract from the the whole experience.
Sounds like 1 shot and to pull that 150lb bow again is pretty much not happening.

Rope. Yes it's not easy to cock without it. A handicap person or someone with a bad back would obviously have problems doing it without the crankie thing.
It's equivelent to shooting a ML. I'd say you can get both loaded back up just about the same. From the arrow trajectory I'm seeing, it's about a 50 yard max. kill zone, not that it won't be able to go out further, but it has some arch to it. I guess it's supposed to because it's called archery?

Multi,
I ended up shortening my rope cocking aid by a few inches. That got me into a better position to cock my Exomag.
Doing that you hook one side and then pull the other side up by hand far enough to hook that side. Then cock it. It works for me.
I had to use the hand crank (The Crankeroo) last season as I had hernia surgery. That was REALLY time consuming in that you had to basically install and remove the crankeroo before every shot.
Like you said most time when shooting a deer it is a one time shot only. Much like vertical bowhunting. Only whith a vertical bow you can get that second shot off MUCH quicker and with a lot less movement.
Welcome to the world of crossbowing. You will enjoy it.
Can anyone post a pic. of the Exomax?
Found it.

Multi has the ExoMAG.. It is ONLY 200# pull.. ;)
A man with average strength can do it with the rope cocking aid. It cuts that weight in at least half and you are pulling with both arms, both legs and your back.
When cocking the crossbow you are really just making a LIFT using leg, arm and back muscles. Most average men can lift 100 to 112 pounds.. about 12 inches.
On my old barnett with 175 # pull I would put both feet on the limbs hold the string and just stand up, it was very easy. However I read that this tech. will easily cause the string to be misaligned.

It is more likely to occur if you use your hands to cock the crossbow.
The rope cocking aid or crank will help self center the string.
If you are going to use your hands only to cock the bow, place both your thumbs up against the rail to guide your pull.
The importance of centering the string can not be stressed too much for accuracy. Just imagine nocking an arrow an inch above it's regular nocking point on a vertical string. Same thing applies to the crossbow. An uncentered string will fling the arrow off it's mark..
You might also consider marking your serving on each side of the rail with a dab of white paint or Whiteout. That way if it is cocked off center you will see it right away.
Two years ago as I was walking in for my evening hunt I stumbled over a log and dropped my cocked crossbow. After I got in the tree and sat awhile I looked down at my string and one mark was not even visable. It was under the latch and the other was an inch away from the rail. In the fall I had un-centered my string. I shot at a leaf at 20 yards and missed it by 6 inches. I recocked and centered the string up.
If I had not marked my string I never would have known it and could have dinged a deer if that opportunity arose.

And those anti-xbow folks said this is "too easy"!

It's possible to cock it without and aid. Grab it, grunt and do it quick. It's tuff on the fingers without gloves though. The cocking rope helps get the string lined up in the center which is important. The crankie thing is a last resort and for those with severe problems, it's very slow and laborous.
I sold a Exocet to a another fellow and it's a very similar bow except for the weight of the limbs. I think either will be fine, one is just a tad faster.
Can't wait to kill a deer or two with it. Won't be long.
