TWO ELK.

on my way to lexington today at around 300pm just inside rockcastle co./ just outside laruel co. where it turns back into 3 lanes, look on the hillside and there where 2 cow elk standing on the hillside grazing, had to take a double take, at first didnt reliaze what they where, almost blended into the hillside with all that grass. but they where pretty close to the highway, so i hope they dont try to make it across, hitting a deer is bad enough cant even think what a elk would do to a car.

but it was pretty cool to see them.

They are one " MAJESTIC " animal, aren't they?

There was a farm in Rowan Co. around 8 or 10 yrs ago that was raising them. My uncle and I were driving around up there looking for a place to hunt and there they were, about 8 of them. One big bull and a couple of small bulls and the rest were cows. I locked up my old truck and scared my uncle half to death. That big bull was real close to the road, I still remember it like it was yesterday. I went back up there a few yrs ago and they were gone.
