After thinking about this last winter and not doing anything I decieded to build some this winter an get it in place for spring & summer. I took several five gallon plastic buckets and drilled holes from top to bottom. Went down to a local creekbank and cut around 200 pieces of cane of various lengths. Started placeing the cane thru the lower holes in the buckets to form arms to keep the bucket from turning over when underwater sitting on the bottom. Next placed cane thru all the other holes at an upward angle and finished with several straight up around the edges and in the center of the bucket. Then filled the bucket with concrete and allowed it to set up. We took these mandmade tree's out on a pontoon boat to about 15 ft of water off a point in the lake and sank them to the bottom. Now we will have to wait an see if the crappie take a likeing to them. One tip if you try this is make sure the bail (handle) on the bucket is center of the upright cane or you will have problems lowering them straight down.
