Greg Phillips, who is a member of Derby City, makes the best paddle call I have, and I have a Neil Cost, a custom Dick Kirby and several others. Greg's very reasonable on his prices, too. I have one that's really unusual, called a Kicking Bird. It has a slate insert in the lid and man is it LOUD! But I've never heard anything like it in terms of making gobblers hammer back. It is one call that I'm never without.
The paddle made by Knight & Hale is very good, by the way, by any standard. It will definitely kill turkeys.

I don't know how I forgot Craig Shultz, who makes Critter Gitters. His are exceptional. He won best hunting call at the NWTF nationals a couple of years ago, which ought to tell you something. He's a great guy and a Kentucky boy to boot!

A new guy is making calls up in Northern Kentucky called the "Kentucky Thunderer." It's a custom made boat paddle that Tim Herald used in his calling demonstrations. He's only making 100 of them and charging $35.00 each. A steal for a custom made call. You can e-mail him at jmaynardcojo@earthlink.net

I'll vouch for "Kentucky Thunderer". Mine (walnut box, cedar lid) screams, but not at the cost of good tone quality. Can still get a perfect 2-note yelp & good clucks.

Tim H. showed how to get super kee-kees from it, but my skills can't match Tim's so I'm still working on it.
