I'm curious to know if it is legal to have someone who is not carrying a gun and does not have a permit accompany me while I am turkey hunting.

Yes. As long as they don't have a weapon.

I appreciate your comments Dev. Was also hoping to hear something from some one who wears the uniform but I must assume that they agree with you and don't see a need to respond. Thanks again.

Hi Plowboy. This is from the F&W website although it is from the 2004 edition. They haven't updated their site but I am sure this info is still good. It should be in the 2005 book.

Hunters Note:

"A person may assist or call turkeys for another legal hunter. The assistant / caller does not have to possess a hunting license or turkey permit, BUT shall not carry any type of hunting equipment. Only hunters with a valid license and permit who have not taken the season bag limit can carry a shotgun, archery or crossbow equipment when turkey hunting."
