I have an old 12 gauge mossberg 500A, and it has a 28" barrel. Is this a problem for turkey hunting?

I have a full choke. I could get a xx full turkey choke. Would that really help?

Does it have a 3" chamber or is it 2 3/4" Don't use the wrong ammo. Most turkey shells are 3" or 3 1/2" now days. The extra full choke would be better in case you have to make a longer shot. If you don't have anything else, that would work OK. Just use the right shells!

I've been using one for three seasons, the camo version with 24" barrel. Using the factory x-full choke; good to 40 yards, which is as far as I care to shoot at a turkey. Imagine yours would work just fine, but you'll probably want some type of "turkey choke" in it. Try several brands/shot sizes to see what patterns best. If the barrel or stock has a glare in the sunlight, might want to put some camo tape on it. I know guys doing just that.
If you buy a choke, try the factory turkey choke first; I've tried several aftermarket chokes that patterned no better than the factory x-full, and it's only $18-$20 vs. $35-$60 for the aftermarket brands like M.A.D. , TruGlo, etc.
