Would like suggestions for WMA's that have good turkey populations without too much hunting pressure to have any luck. Thanks!

Try Yatesville Lake WMA Ray Charles could kill a turkey there without help.

How about Pine Mountain WMA . You roll off the north slope to a gobblin' turkey, I guarantee, it'l be quite a memorable mornin'.[:D][:I]
That countries full of turkey.

Not sure about that one, but everywhee we went the past weekend grouse hunting seemed to be good turkey spots. The drive and overnight in a local motel would be worth not fighting a huge crowd. Try Paintsville WMA also. Hope like hell you and turkey are on the same ridge top!

You got it Multi, Yatesville or Paintsville WMA are excellent, I have seen more 30lb Birds on Paintsville than any place I have been, don't over look Dewy Lake WMA or Grayson Lake WMA as other selections in east KY.

What about in Western Ky area?

Never hunted Peabody myself, but know some who have. They say it's loaded with turkey. Quite a few people too, but it's big enough that you can usually find some spots that aren't being pounded. Might take awhile to find some sweet spots, though.

You can get to your self at some of the Peabody locations. It's a big place and has several different tracts. Get a map from your license vender and you can find some of the more remote areas and do OK.

I hunt Peabody and there are a lot of turkeys but the hunting pressure is unreal. The first week is very bad but by the last week its died down somewhat.I wouldn't hunt there if I had somewhere else but its about my only spot. Not many remote spots because there are gas line roads everywhere.

In the four years I've hunted Peabody the pressure has increased every year. You can't walk far enough to get away from everybody. It's the same story everywhere, unless you've got a private spot. Good luck.

I have hunted the same area in Peabody for six seasons. When I started you could kill a bird with the truck in sight still. Now if you park on the road, somebody is going to park next to you and follow you into the woods. You can still have good hunting there, but you have to know when and where to hunt. that is the key
With all of that said, it is still public property and I am happy to have it around. Guess everyone else needs somewhere to hunt also.

Dewey is by far the most populated WMA and has less pressure (in the mountains). Give it a try. If you need help on a location call.
