Ok this is important. I know that things are just now beginning to cool down and the anti-xbow guys are making nice. But I just found out this is a smoke screen. I just received a PM and an e-mail informing me that the UBK is working overtime behind the scenes (read covert) to get the new xbow rule changed. Please don't allow an organization that is only 500 strong sway the commissioner into a special meeting or whatever they have in mind.
Call your commissioner and ask him to stand by the new rule allowing xbows during archery season. Let's do this in a respectful manner. Guys this ain't over!

It's my understanding that the push is to BYPASS the Commission and go over their head to the Gov and Legislature or Mr. Host of Commerce. Hard to imagine a group like the UBK who has helped with Commission decisions many times now showing disrespect by doing an end run around them. Folks, wheather you like the change or not, the Commission process has been in place for many years, Tried and tested, it's better than using what some other states use. To have the legilatur and Gov decide are deer seasons is asking for serious trouble. for example, three young men died this week from a car wreck caused by a deer. Let's say the legislature decides there are too many deer in that area and has a spring or summer deer reduction slaughter. Think hard before you make those calls being urged by the bow group and the Louisville Lip on WHAS 84.If someone in an official position finds any untruth in this post and can send me where my info is wrong, I'll be more than happy to delete this post.

Even if they did go "over the commisions head", the legislators and governer would back the commission. If they don't then what do they need a commission for? Then everything that doesn't go someones way the legislators would have to deal with it.

UBK thinks they can get it done....we'll see. Make the calls again to your Commissionor. Let the Gov and Sec. Host sort out the calls they get. Help preserve a system that for the most part has served us very well.

What's ironic is that one of the turkeys behind this has said he is a supportor of F & W on this site many times. Now he wants to change how we make the rules and regs we live by. Sad

The process worked.

It did not work in favor of some, but in any such subject someone is not going to like the results.

Be very, very careful in getting politicians involved in game management.

There have been numerous incidents nationwide where we have lost hunting opportunities because of poltican involvement in game management.

This could set a very danergous precedent.

Going over the heads of the Commission is the very same tactics the anti-hunters use. Once these Respresenatives sees some hunters are doing the same thing as the ant-hunters they will see that the ant-hunters was right along and from then on it will be safe for them to go against hunters.

Just curious guys. Did the UBK poll its members or is this a case of a select fe
w making decisions for everyone?

I know the answer, but will defer to a UBK person to answer it.

It is in the by laws and mission statement. It has also been brought forth at the banquet last month that the UBK will oppose xbows. Also the board of directors met and stated what their constituents thought was nescessary involving x bows.

Now, do I personally think every UBK member is opposed to x bows my answer to that is no. I know for a fact some don't care one way or the other and a few like the thought of x bows being legal archery equipment.

Last but not least the UBK signed up over a hundred new members this past week. All of them wanting to give their support in opposition of xbows in the entire archery season. More are signing up every day.

For all of you guys that want x-bows I hope you don't have to hunt public land like Talorsville Lake becouse its going to be a mess. It will be like gun season used to be like then it will go to a draw .Extending X-bows season should have been the way to go just a thought. You might as well let us use a gun all season now if all you want is more deer killed .I am for exstinding there season and letting haddy cap or anyone dissabled use one all season thats as far as it go's.All my friend that can't shot a bow or can't seem to kill a deer with one that is. Is happy and the one's that can are pissed. Now that thats said I will live with it eather way now lets get ready for Turkey season.
