Can someone please tell me why no one loads 2 or 2 1/4 oz's of hevi shot in a #5 or #6? Been asking this for years haven't gotten a good answer yet.
I'm counting on you Maytom.

Nitro Company will load a 2.25 load for your mossberg that will be devastating on turkeys. Mossberg Man, just bite the bullet and go for it, you will be glad you did. They are wicked, you saw the pic. It will only cost you 4 bucks to shoot your only load to see for your self how wicked they are, then you will shoot 2 times at 2 turkeys. Total cost 12 bucks. Other than the 90 rhino tube.
I will say this though, I've killed 5 longbeards since shooting Nitros, and really all five were 30 yards shots and under and could have been killed no problem with lead turkey loads. One shot was at 7 yards and I blew that turkeys head to bits. I will also say this, all five graveyard dead, no flopping.

Ceo: the nitos pattern great no doubt about it. I'm just not real fond off all the # 7 shot. I know lots of people swear by them and I'm not here to despute that, but I would feel more comfortable with 2 1/4 oz's of straight 5's or 6's.
What is the problem with a straight 2 1/4 oz. load?
does this heavy shot shoot just as good out of regular chokes, such as full or XX chokes????????........i saw some hevi-shot at the j s show in louisville but just kinda skeptical of the claims................i have been viewing some of the pics and am quite impressed..............i got a h+r single w\a xx choke and wonder if this is the answer$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$?.............ez

I was the same way about seven shot in the load, however I'm not concerned anymore after I've seen the destruction.
Confidence in your load/gun/pattern etc. is important.
If you find something good post it up.

EZ, Remington did test using Remington factory chokes. I think I may have posted that info on this site somewhere recently.
I'll bet that H&R is gonna kick like a mule!!!!!!
Like CEO says, Believe the hype! I've not shot these Nitro's, but I have shot alot of other brands, and when compared to the HEVI, Well there ain't alot of comparison. Again, Most Magnum Turkey loads will do the job, but I sure like that added insurance. The Hevi will run you about $2 a shot, It's worth it to me.

:D I found it!!! Posted on another site.
"Can I use my current Remington shotgun/choke with new Hevi-Shot Turkey Loads?
Yes. Remington has extensively tested Hevi-Shot through various Rem-Chokes. The top-selling choke, diameter and resulting Hevi-Shot pattern percentages are as follows:
Ventilator (.655") 87% 30" circle, 40 yards
Full - Lead Only (.691") 88% "
Full - Lead or Steel (.691") 88% "
Turkey Extra Full (.687") 92% "
Turkey Super Full (.665") 93% "
NEW Hevi-Shot (.675") 94% "
Tighter chokes than .665" do not improve pattern percentages to any extent and in fact begin to produce more open patterns.
Hevi-Shot can produce cosmetic rub marks in barrels and chokes, simply a change in surface finish. Over an equal number of rounds, this rubbing is similar to that experienced with steel shot. Both materials create more choke strain than lead shot due to a more solid payload. With the Remington wad column, the Hevi-Shot pellets rest on a cushioned pad in the shot container that allows the pellets to flow better through the choke. In addition, the Remington Hevi-Shot shot container is much thicker than previous Hevi-Shot loaded rounds and that thickness minimizes pellet contact with the barrel or choke.
Under laboratory test conditions, Remington has fired in excess of 500 rounds through each Remington choke tube offered, including Ventilator (.655") and "lead only" full (.691") without any dimensional changes being encountered. With the limited number of rounds used in normal turkey hunting, Remington's testing represents many lifetimes of reasonable gun use."

EZ, Yeah I shoot 3 1/2 Hevis, and in My 870 they pack a punch, so I can't imagine in a single shot. Go with the 3"...They are equally impressive. I promise.
