Have a Dell 4600C which has been great. The tower is compact, about the size of a phone book.17" flat monitor,Dell A096 printer, fax, copier, scanner combo. I would not hesitate to buy another Dell system. In my opinion, stay away from Compaq Pressarios.

I have an HP right now and have had good luck with it, it is just old and outdated. I may stay with them. Does anyone have a Gateway? I've heard some good things about them.

Just got new Dells at work.......... they suck! Took 6 months to get the bugs out of the last ones and I suspect as much out of these. We've had optical mouse problems with 3, a monitor die on one, processor problems on one and cooling fan issues with another. We're talking about 8 computers here that were installed the last week of December..... and they ain't the cheap home 'puters neither.

I had a Gateway for my last computer and never had a single problem out of it until the hard drive died.... like 6 years later.

I'm like skin_dog... I'm posting this from an emachine I bought at Wally World. Couldn't find anything out there even close to comparible for the same $. Had it for a year and a half now without so much as a hiccup. Depends on what you want to do with one though.. this one won't handle much in the way of computer games or really graphics processor intensive programs like a CAD program. I could get an aftermarket video card and fix that pretty quickly though.

I've been impressed by this little machine outside that.

Like my HP -- had a Compaq once -- bit of a problem and called a computer tech-- his FIRST question-- Is it a Gateway ?

HP and Compaq are one in the same now Okie.

Gateway was the #1 selling brand there for a looong time. Could be why they asked that.

Girlfriend has a Dell, and when it works, it is great, but have also had plenty of problems with it. But I think I've had problems with every computer I've ever used. Stupid things...lol
