So, a few weeks ago I noticed the Wife watching the Dvds a little more close, then asking questions, etc........
Anyway, the past 2 weeks on my off days we been out shootin'. I have an 870 3" 20 Gauge outfitted w/ an Undertaker tube, tru-glos, the works.
Well, In 3 weeks We've gone from a Gal who never picked up a gun, to one who smokes 20 and 30 yard targets with ease, often shooting better than me  . She says she's ready to try her luck at huntin'....And wants to start with Turkey.

Sounds like you've done a good job! Maybe we can get together for a couples hunt sometime! My wife is gonna try it this year too.

OH NO!!!!!!!!! Take her guns away right now!!!!!!!!! lol, just kidding. It may very well be the best thing you've ever done. I got mine to hunting 2 years ago and so far she's missed uh (2 turkeys but don't tell her I told) and shot her first buck at 150 yards this time. (musta got nervous on the turkeys, she's a good shot) Anyway, I love sharing it with her, but yeah sometimes I do wanna get out by myself and hunt, and as hard as I hunt most men can't keep up with me, but she finds a way to when she gets to go.

I am slowly getting my girlfriend started. I'll take her out a couple times a year in the spring, and in the fall. She'll reluctantly let me watch the hunting shows and videos, but will ask questions and tell me her thoughts on if it is a big enough buck to be shooting or not. She even gets caught reading over my shoulder on here now and again. I got her into fishing, but I think it would be fun to get her hunting.

What have I done?
You sir, have made a huge mistake. Wife to you --"Honey, can you watch the kids this morning? I want to go turkey hunting..."
I think it's good to have different interests. That's worked well for me and my wife. She loves for me to go hunting, go to the farm and work, and play cards. I love for her to go scrapbooking, play bunko, and go shopping. Neither of us has the slightest bit of interest doing what the other likes, and that's been a sweet arrangement for us. I always know where she is, she always knows where I am, and we implicitly trust each other.
All that said, I'm planning on taking my wife with me at least once this Spring as a non-hunter so she can hear the gobbles and see the deer. She'll get a kick out of that, but it won't lead to hunting I'm quite sure. Everytime I clean an animal, she departs the area, lol.

Hammer, do you remember what it was that originally drew you to turkey hunting? I'll bet if you take her out and she sees the sights and sounds of the spring turkey woods then she'll be hunting before you know it! If you like your current arrangement then you'd best leave the wife home! I on the other hand have a wife that nags the crap out of me nearly every time I go. I figure if she gets as addicted as I then maybe she'll be nagginf me to take her and in turn I get to go without being nagged!
I think it is great that she is showing interest in the sport. My girlfriend would love to spend more time in the outdoors, but her schooling keeps her indoors with her nose in a book most of the time.:(

Hhmmm...I guess I'm starting to see the down side. Oh well, I think I'm going to keep trying to get her out there anyway. I figure if there are kids in our future someday, and she wants to go hunting, the kids will just have to come along cause I sure ain't staying home so she can go out.

You men are pitiful. One of the happiest moments of our relationship (in my opinion) was when i shot myfirst deer. Jason was right there next to me, coaching me and cheering me on. Months in advance he had me outside shooting my 260 rem. at a box. When I was aiming at the deer...I kept sayin "Its only a box..its only a box" Jason almost got more excited then I did when the deer dropped. That was great experience for us. Hammer...if your happy that is all the matters. But if you ever had the experience that jason and i had-you would be eating your words. I understand he wants to hunt on his own....while I sit at home and knit (YEA RIGHT) But I let him have his space. He mainly hunts either on his own or with one of his buddies. When he wants to take me..Im eager to go. I will never forget the way I felt when we climbed down the tree stand and retrieved my first deer (buck) TOGETHER. (Together)Thats the keyword. If it wasnt for sharing it with Jason, it wouldnt have been near as special. So with that said, you dont know what your missin.

My wife has talked about going a couple times but when it comes down to it she wont go.She dont like to get up early at all. With me working second shift she keeps her daily schedule the same as mine even though she cant work due to health problems. Some times I would like to get her out cause I know she would love the scenery and the animals but I wouldnt want her to go all the time.

Yea I think that it would be wrong of me if I ALWAYS INSISTED that I go with Jason. He needs his own space and time. Hunting is his sport and it is his time he can get away and relax. I wouldnt want to interfere with that. But when he wants to take me with him, it makes it that much more special.

I was able to talk my wife into deer hunting 2 years ago and on her second year she harvested her first deer. Since then she has taken up archery, although she has taken anything yet. She loves to hunt and fish, and loves to shoot 3d. She and I have the opportunity to watch deer and turkey almost daily from our kitchen window and she absolutely loves it. She has expressed interest in turkey hunting this spring, so I guess i'll take her. We have had some memorable times in the field and I would recommend for anyone to take their companion along.(just don't take them to your honey-hole)She now says that the only thing better than being out on a cold November morning in a treestand, is being at home in nice warm bed. You know, sometimes I think she is smarter than I am. Nah!:)
