How did you quit smoking?
Last Sunday night, I just threw them down and decided that I had been killing myself long enough, and haven't had one since!!
Although, I did get one out Monday night, but I never lit it!!
In college, I've had several health classes and this semester, they just kind of hit me and I decided no more,
Now what did you do for the cravings?,
For the first 2 days I ate lots of wintergreen life-savers,
Now everyone says what are you chewing (tobacco)? nope just life-savers, Now I have been weaning myself onto the skoal,
I know there won't be a problem quitting that, because I get bad heartburn every time I dip, it's just something to make the cravings pass

and I am curious as to what other's have done to survive.

My dad did the same thing on christmas eve 3 years ago. I'm pretty proud of him, now if only my mom could do it. He just finished his last pack and hasn't touched one since. He smoked for 50 years! Congrats!

"weaning yourself onto Skoal" is not a good alternative. You will soon be addicted to that worse than the cigs. They say kicking a snuff habit is worse than kicking a heroin habit. You get way more nicotine in it than from cigs.

I quit a Copenhagen habit cold turkey after 17 years. Took a promise to quit to my father that was dying of cigarette induced lung cancer for me....

Listerine breath strips. Seriously. Every time you get the urge pop one of those babies. That, and chew gum for about 3 weeks straight.

Smoked for 16 years. Quit cold turkey nearly two years ago. No tobacco of any kind in that time. Hopefully I'll make it.

I smoked a pack a day for 23 years. Then I quit for 15 years......I started back and have been smoking 2 1/2 packs a day for about 5 years. If you quit....DON"T ever smoke that 1 st one again. I now only have one good lung and I am still puffing. Sometimes I just wish someone would shoot me and get it over with. I would probably quit again if my wife would. If you really want to and set your mind to it, you CAN quit.

Never did either one, so I guess I can't really give any advice on how to quit, but I would also say that weaning yourself off with the dipping wouldn't be a good idea. But good job for quitting!!!

I started (sneaking) smoking when I was 8 yrs. old and have smoked ever since, so I have smoked for about 26 1/2 yrs.
it had been on my mind alot lately to quit, so Sunday night, I said to myself
"I have had enough", the cravings aren't too bad until late at night when I'm online, and neither lip/lung cancer is/would be good to have, but if I had to choose one it would be lip/mouth rather than smothering myself to death with a stinking cigarette, and that way it's self inflicted rather than exposing my family to second hand smoke.
