Man, I don't know. Looks to me like some poor babe out there is missing her ponytail. What a rope!!! Spurs are unreal to. I'm sure there's birds out there like this one but very few and far between. If it is real, what a trophy!!!

OK....I'll bite. Gotta call BS on that one. I don't think it's possible for a beard to get that long, they get worn down from dragging on the ground when the bird feeds.
Maybe that bird stood straight up when he was feeding out of the corn feeder.

Is that considered a long beard?
If so maybe I should have my birds scored. I thought they were supposed to touch the ground when they were standing up, to be considered a long beard.

He might have been walking on his tip toes, that's why it didn't get wore off like other ones did. I don't doubt that it could be fake, and I don't doubt that it could be real. When there is a freak, it's always tough to say, unless you were there when it was shot, or fabricated.

Chuck F Why are you saying the Turkey is a fake? You were with J.M.M. the day he brought it into my shop to be mounted. You were more tore-up about it than he was. Why don't you tell everyone about your bird? That was NOT shot in the head.

I was just trying to have a little fun. I guess i'm just jealous that he killed it before i did. What's wrong with shooting a turkey in the butt? Maybe you should sight in your gun. lol

Check out this site. I'll bet alot here will be surprised at world record weights, multiple beards and thwe such. We have a world record holder that visits this site on occasion. His bird isn't listed, but had 6 beards and is the largest nontyp ever killed with a bow. Maybe he'll read this and post pics. If not I'll contact him and get his permission.

Quite a few from Wisconsin, so hopefully they got their genes passed on before getting the hammer laid down on them.

Man, somebody is sure trying to pull one over if that's fake. The spurs don't look real. I've killed some big turkeys including one with 1 3/4'' spurs and then a 6 bearded gobbler with my bow, but everything on them turkeys was real. Awesome attention getter tho.

I dunno fellas. It is kinda hard to believe that a bird like that exists. Sure there are some big ones, I killed a 6 year old bird that had 1 3/4'' spurs and didn't really see how he had made it all of those years, especially here. But I guess in some places it's possible. But that doesn't have anything to do with the beard length. Even if a turkey is really tall and can keep from dragging his beard off, he still walks on it when he feeds, and anywhere there's snow and ice it will freeze and break off. Long beards and spurs are both possible, but I just don't think this one is legit. The longest spurs I have ever seen is on some birds I have on video in Mammoth Cave National Park where they are not hunted. there is a group of 7 and 2 of them easily have 2 inch spurs. One was a double beard and the other had a good 12 to 13''. But this year, (that was last year i got em on video) They are back, the double beard ain't changed much, but the long bearded one only has about 10 or 11'' now, and their spurs haven't gotten any bigger.
If this turkey is real, then it deserves the utmost recognition, b/c if memory serves me correctly this would tie it for the world record in spur length.

I'll bet I've seen that same group of toms at mammoth cave. Heres a pic of one of them

Probably the best bird I've ever seen. He had close to 2" spurs and ofcourse the rope is obviously a nice one
I've got pics of all five of the ones together and they were all real nice birds but 2 were standouts in the spur department but neither had 2 beards.

I've made up my mind that this one is for real, and until someone gives me proof I'll stick by it. I got a real good look at the beard and just can't imagine how someone could make 3 look like one. Look at the coloration, almost all beards are different colors and like I've already posted, there have been birds killed that were bigger. Hell, if I'm gonna fake something It's gonna be a fake of a new world record!

I saw this one in Nashville too, at the "Wild Turkey" bourbon booth. The spurs were fake. But, it beat seeing pink elephants in there. :D

Heres my take, someones horse has a lot shorter tail. A horses tail is almost exactly the same as a turkey beard. Old taxidermy secret. Oyeah as for the spurs a little apoxie sculpt you can make them as long as you want. We fix broken spurs all the time.
