Anybody know where I can find some railroad cross ties? I know you can find them on railroad tracks, but where else? I was driving across a set of tracks, and there are tons of them stacked next to it, think I can help myself?:D

An outfit in Lexington advertises them weekly in the paper: R J Corman, should be in the phone book. I think it's a pretty big company, nation wide & they have the contract with the RR.
Sometimes you can find them at plant nurseries....they are usually not "new" ones, but in fairly good condition.
I'd be careful helping yourself tho....CSX will fine you if you fart on their property. :)

There is a lumber store on 31-w in bowling green that has hundreds of em out front. I've even seen em at walmart in the garden center.
We live beside rail road tracks and asked CSX workers about helping ourselves. When they come around to fix the track they pile ties up every few feet. Some of the ties rolled over the bank. These are out of reach of their equipment so they told us to help ourselves. As far as finding them stacked and helping yourself, if you're caught you will be charged or fined.
