I don't think I can comment on it, since I don't get to see many shows, and I don't know a lot of people that turkey hunt yet. Seen a few videos, and a few shows, but I guess just cause they have the money to hunt and own a hunting business, so they get on TV/videos, I wouldn't say any of them are the best. Must be an old guy somewhere, that gets his bird every year, and only gets to hunt a few times, but still manages to get his bird every year.

Me....Ha Ha Ho HO HOOOW HHWEEE ...oops just fell off my chair.

Let's say my answer is the guy or gal who goes out and enjoys the heck out of the turkey season...just being in the woods whether they get a bird or not.

Not taking anything away from Will Primos, or any other tv personality, but if he had to hunt public land and do his own scouting like most of us, he'd probably be a lot less successfull. I know some local hunters who are arguably equal to or better than a lot of the so called pros, but the best is most likly some unknown old time outdoorsman from a state with a long tradition of turkey hunting like Alabama or Missouri. If your talking about personalities I'd pick Harold Knight. Tom

Ben Rodgers Lee all time greatest
Harold Knight ( i feel he is a step or 2 ahead of David Hale)
Denny Culvas
Will Primos
Ray Eye- (if you ever get a chance to attend his seminars please do so he is great)

That's nearly impossible to answer. I'd put Dwain Bland, author of " Turkey Hunters Digest" " Some Turkey Scrsatchings" and numerous articles in Petersen's(back in the 80's& early90's) against anyone. But i think in turkey hunting the playin field is quite evened out due to the fact that with simple instruction's on fundamentals, a first timer could kill a turkey that's he catches in the right mood. That's the key, regardless of how much you have hunted. Gettin on the right bird.

Elmer Fudd, hands down! No, wait, he hunts for wabbits. ;)

Seriously though, in my book, anyone that can take a bird every year is pretty darn good! Those pesky turkeys get the best of me more than I get the best of them. I do love trying though.

Joe Drake is the best one I know of and next would be my little brother with very large number of birds to his credit.

I would have to say Harold Knight. And plus he is a good ole Kentucky boy.

.........What about Mike Riley?

Yeah right:D

My vote would go for Harold Knight. He's a great hunter, and a great ambassador for hunting.

What about everyone who has worked hard at bringing this bird back in huntable numbers that we enjoy today.

I say let's give them a "That a boy" for a job well done. George Wright was a key figure in Turkey's being stocked in Ky. Those guys that trapped, transported and released birds are the real turkey hunters.

Skindog, I met Walter several years ago in Atlanta. He sure seemed to be a down to earth guy and as common as an old shoe. At that time he was a brick mason, but I'll bet he's not laying bricks now. LOL Tom P.S. Mike, I was at one of Harolds seminars and some guy asked him if he could call turkeys with his natural voice. He looked at the guy and matter of factly said. " you can't sell it son",it about cracked me up!! You got to admire his honesty though.

I've heard Harold say that. He tells a story of hunting LBL before camo and turkey calls. He says he first started calling turkeys with a leaf of some sort. Blowing across it similar to a diaghram. It worked and he's been killing turkeys in KY for longer than alot of us have been alive. I can't call em with my natural voice so as long as he's selling calls I'll be buying them.
