The shot at the buzzer by Christan Latner (spelling? who cares!) will forever be burned into the brain of UK fans. Dukie will be the team we love to hate forever. I rejoice at their every loss. :D

Hey sixpack07 are you just a Wisconsin fan or a Wisconsin and Marqutte fan. I watched a few Wisconsin games on ESPN. I was hopeing that they would pull out a win against Illinoise. It was still a good game. Go Badgers!!!

Oh I like Marquette too. Don't get to see as many of their games though. Cheer for UW-Green Bay and Milwaukee too, but mostly the Badgers and Golden Eagles. Don't seem to have what it takes to get all the way once the tourney starts, but I won't give up on them. It was really fun watching Devan Harris and Dwanye Wade play a couple years ago, just need someone else to step it up and carry us now.

Most of us remember what Latner (sp) did to Timberlake -- that sticks in our craw more than the last second shot. NO respect here for Puke.

Fact remains that Coach K is probably the greastest coach in college BB history, love him or not.Sorry guys, but I don't h ate Duke. That school has tremendous academic standards and a consistently good team (with the exception of the mid 90s when coach K was out with illness.)
KY and Duke have rumbled several times over the years, from the 78 game, when "The Goose" and company outgunned the Dukies,to the December 2001 thriller. Why disrespect a team that makes your team play their best every time they lock horns?I THINK MR RUPP AND MR WOODEN AND MR IBBA (SPELLING). WOULD HAVE A LITTLE TO SAY ABOUT THAT.

I'm a Duke grad and would love to have someone explain the logic behind UK's hatred for Duke. Yeah, yeah, Christian Laettner back in 1991 stomping on Timberlake, but that was 14 years ago, and UK would've gotten smoked in the very next game (Final Four) against IU (Calbert Cheaney and company). In fact, Kentucky got their revenge in 1998 when they climbed out of a double-digit hole to a much-better Duke team and went on to win the National Championship.
UK fans hate Duke almost as much as UNC's fans. I can understand UNC, but Kentucky??? The amazing thing about this phenomenom is that Duke fans don't care about Kentucky any more than any other school, and have absolutely no idea that Kentucky fans consider Duke-UK to be anything other than two good basketball schools. Interesting how this is such a one-sided "rivalry".
For the record, I root for Duke, but also root for Ky and UL.
As for coaches, it would be tough to argue that anyone was better than Wooden. A good argument could be made though that Krzyzewski is as least as good as Rupp or Iba.

WHEN COACH K HAS AS MANY BANNERS HANGING FROM HIS CEILING AS RUPP HAS THEN WE'LL TALK GREAT AS.
I agree, Wooden was a great coach. The thing about Wooden's dominance and championships is that they came when there was no parity in college basketball in the US. Most of Rupp's victories were in the same era. Now there is parity and no team will ever dominate again the way their teams did.
Coach K and Duke have a great program. I don't see any need for the hatred of their program. I think it is based on more jealousy than rivlary.
There are a flock of great coaches now. My all time favorite was probably Pitino when he was at KY-talk about exciting. I am not a Tubby fan at all-I don't like his type of basketball. IMO, UK is destined to be lucky to make it to the Sweet 16 every year under his coaching style. As most are aware, he won the championship in 1998 with Pitino's players. I was there in San Antonio rooting them on-those players didn't need much coaching.......Nonetheless, I am a KY fan to the end......just don't like Tubby's style.

Look, all I said was a good argument could be made that K was at least as good as the others, but if you want to talk facts. . .
Rupp - 4 titles in 42 years at Kentucky (couldn't find # of Final 4 appearances)
Krzyzewski - 3 titles in 24 years at Duke (9 Final Fours)
Iba - 2 titles in 36 years at Okie A&M
Based on this, one could logically argue that Coach K is a better coach at producing national championships. He does so every 8 years, while Rupp did it every 10.5 years.
All 3 are great coaches, but if banners are the only thing that counts, then Mr. Rupp was 40% as good a coach as John Wooden.

Hey fever,
You have to remember that some of Rupp's years there was no NCAA all champions came through the NIT, of which UK has several prior to the NCAA Championship.
If Tubby could get his offense to play as good as his defense he would be the best going today.(not all time but today) I think there are several coaches that are awesome right now. Especially since they usually have such young talent to work with.

Rupp won one NIT and that was only two years b/4 his first win in the NCAA. I'm not sure which tourney was the nat'l championship tourney during those years. I assumed it was the NCAA, but if it was the NIT, I don't know how many championships he won.
