Hello KY Trappers, I hope you all have had as much fun this year as I have had. We (my father, brother, and myself) finally made the plunge into beaver trapping and we are hooked. Rehab wouldn't help us get off the flat tails. Our beavers here are usually concentrated in small pockets and we have some success with setting on dams that we have torn holes in. Our catch is 14 right now, but there is some time left. Anybody else have steel in the ground?

I've got around 30 sets out right now. Will be pulling them up today in order to beaver trap hard for the last two weeks of the season.

I currently don't have any beaver traps out. We pulled our sets yesterday, either we have educated the colony to where they were shying away or we have thinned them out. We just put steel on a new farm yesterday also. We have about 35-40 fox, coyote, coon, and mink sets. Expecting tight chains this morning, but got fooled. But, high expectations for tomorrow.

I had 7 coons this morning one of which had already been eaten on by some other critter. Needless to say it was ruined.

In my neck of the woods there are quite a few. I'm pulling all my land sets and going to work on rats and beavers. Coons are rubbing, fox and yotes are starting to get scruffy. Did snare a real big male red fox today.

We had a real nice gray and one jumbo 'rat this morning. My father had what looked like a coyote pull out, which was a bummer. I rushed when setting my fox sets Thursday and goofed a couple of them up. I am not sure exactly what went wrong, but I had several dug out this morning. I straightened the sets up and put a stronger backing in place. I think I got fox urine on my rubber gloves and they smelled where I handled the traps. Hopefully, I fixed the problem and will have tight chains in the morning.
