Whats your favorite camping ghizmo? I have so many! One portion of my very large garage is dedicated to my camping gear. Other than my 3 different propane heaters and my stove (which has been the birthplace of many a great pot of venison chili) I'd say my portable propane grill. Folds up, compact and cooks one helluva bratwurst:D

I'm mighty fond of my campstove coffee maker also.

I would have to say that my favorite thing is my backpack. I can fit all my gear in it, strap on my tent and sleeping bag and I'm good to go. My wifes favorite is our portable shower shelter from Cabella's, plus along with our porta potty, you've got your own private John. (which is nice at some campgrounds)

Hey, come on now. There ain't nothin' better than being in a tent.

My favorite has to be my air mattress and pump. Makes sleeping so much nicer.

Just got started a couple summers ago with camping, so I haven't amassed too much equipment yet, but I did just receive a camp stove and some lanterns that will be fun to try out. Otherwise I love the propane grill, tent, tiki torches, sleeping bags, air mattress, fishing equipment...well I guess I like it all. Everything about camping is enjoyable except going back home. My next big purchase I think will be a canoe that we can take along.

Have to agree with trosz, I've put in my time on the ground. Bought an older pop up last year and life is much better especially when the weather goes sour. Problably will sell it this year and get a smaller one though, it sleeps six, and has an awning, slide out stove etc...

has to be my cot.
I now have 3 cots and usually take the extras for someone else to use.

every air mattress that I've tried has deflated during the night and I always wake up with a rock stuck in my ribs.

Well... I dont even know where to begin on this one. I have enough camping gear to open a store. Everything from "luxury" campground camping to ultralight backpacking to expedetion backpacking. I have found over the years that you definately get what you pay for in camping gear so I am very fond of Mountain Hardwear brand tents and sleeping bags as well as clothing.
My absolute favorite piece of gear would have to be my Mountain Hardwear 3rd Dimension Sleeping Bag. It is rated to 0 degrees and will keep you nice and toasty at that and even less temperatures. I have been on top of Mt. Leconte in February with 20 inches of snow on the ground and -14 temperatures and had to strip down to my skivies because I was hot.
Next would be my Vasque Alpine Hiking Boots... Had them for 7 years and they have logged over 700 miles of trails including multiple trips to the backcountry of Alaska.

Propane adapter for my Coleman stove, Coleman auto drip coffee pot for use on that stove (or any stove for that matter), and of course the air mattress, air pillow, and last the inflater for the mattress and pillow.

JP,

Of course I have trouble remembering all the details due to the fact that I never pack enough water and have to resort to other types of liquids to help maintain proper hydration, but it seems to me that you taking all my poker money was not the case the last time out. lol

Well I love all kinds of camping, from spike camping in the high mountains to easychair camping by the lake shore. It would be hard to pick any one favorite piece of equipment. I will, however, agree with steelslinger that my favorite piece of new easychair equipment is the Coleman Drip Coffee Maker I got for Christmas. I tried it out the first time at a scout campout last weekend. I was getting it all set to go and our scoutmaster came by and said, what are you going to do with that, thinking it was an ordinary drip maker. Make coffee, I said. He said, how are you going to do that without electricity and I said watch. He turned away just as I set it on the burner. When he turned around and saw it on the burner, he yells you can't do that and comes running over and grabs it off the burner. Everyone's laughing and he looks under it and sees it is specially made for the burner and is kind of red faced. Best laugh we had the whole wet weekend and the coffee was great.

Also, have to agree with the guy who said a piece of tin foil to go behind his coleman lantern. That used to make for great gigging of suckers during the spring runs.
