Does anyone think that the Pro is that much better to justify the increased cost? Just curious. Thanks.

the only diffewrence is that they flut the barrel

The optima pro also has a longer barrel which helps burn more powder without it just getting knocked out the end of the barrel.

I have the optima and love it. I could not see spending the extra money for a fluted barrel with 2 extra inches.

The two extra inches helps when you are using the full 150 grains of powder. If you use loose powder, you'll be able to hear the unburned stuff hitting the ground in front of you when you shoot.

Whatever you choose, you'll love it! I love mine!

Thanks I had no idea about the unburned powder. I'm new to muzzleloading.

Thanks for the info guys. I have been wanting a muzzleloader but have had a hard time justifying the expense of some of the ones like the Knight elite or TC Encore that the mags seem to recommend.

Just got a CVA Optima (camo stock, nickel barrel) back before the first muzzleloader season. From where I sit, I don't see any reason why I would need anything more than I've got. Shoots great, cleans up easy, and looks awesome!

I bought a 45 cal optima pro, nickel, with black fleck. I was told that the fluted barrel cools quicker, so you can shoot it quicker without letting the barrel cool, and the longer barrel is supposed to be better on the long range shots. I get a pretty good group at 175 yards with it. I hunted with it and i have not had a chance at a brute, but hopefully the third saturday in october, I will get my chance, if I dont get one with a bow before. I had a thompson center omega, 50 cal, and the optima pro is a lot easier to clean!! I will never sell this gun!!! Another advantage of the gun is the fore end of the stock is flat.A must for a steady shot! I would reccomend to anyone!!
