Well I got out of work a little early last night, so I headed to the woods for a quick end of the night bow-hunt. I hadn't been seeing anything from my stand, so I decided to move to the other side of a small lake, and stand on the ground. My uncle said it was really tore up over here, so I thought it can't hurt to try it out. As soon as I got to the edge of the woods, I found a huge scrape. I was following a well used trail into the woods when a deer went running through. I wasn't sure if I had spooked it, or if a buck was chasing a doe. So I decided to just find a tree to stand by and wait out the rest of the night, as there were many rubs around anyway. About 20 minutes later, here comes a doe right towards me. She got about 10 yards from me, but couldn't smell me, just knew something was right. Her two fawns stayed back aways, and they all eventually wandered off. Right at the end of the night, another doe was coming towards me. She saw me at about 15 yards, and came to about 5 yards. She walked off a little ways and came right back as I started to walk out. She came in real close again, and as the darkness was setting in, I decided I best be going. I started by waiving my bow, and then my arms, and finally my whole body at her. She ran off short distances, but kept coming back. I finally walked out and she just stood there and watched me from about 40 yards. No bucks for the night, but it was one of the most fun nights of hunting so far this year.
