Duck band?

hey a guy I know got a duck this eveing that has a band
he said it was a plastic band orange and only has 4 numbers and letters on it
does that sound normal and how do we find out about the band
it was on a wood duck I think
is there a way to check on band on puter?

I just got my bands out from last year. The number on them is 1-800-327-BAND
