Hey Fellow's
Went duck hunting this morning with some buddies they told me last night that they had saw all kinds of ducks flying corn fields yesterday didnt know weather to beleave them or not but I went along with them this is my 2nd year of hunting duck and their 1st year
they said yesterday that they couldnt get the ducks in shooting range they would just get out of range and land in corn field they dont have any decoys to use so I went with them this morning and took 12 of my 23 pond decoys and put them out set up about 40 yards from decoys in stick weed patch about 20 min later they said here comes some it looked like a flock of black birds but sure enough it was about 50-75 ducks and couldnt do a thing with them it went on like this for about a hour with no ducks getting in range or paying attention to decoys in corn field they wouldnt even land in field so we moved to another area with no luck at all saw 2 on pond and thats about it so we went back to corn field left decoys in truck and one got in fence row and one in corn field and put some corn stalks on me for cover we could turn the ducks by calling but they wouldnt get close enough to shoot had them flying straight over me several times they was quacking and carring on went they would fly over but just wouldnt do anything at all what was we doing wrong? or what would you have done? Saw somewhere around 400-500 ducks THANKS

how was the wind?
ducks need the wind to land or to slow them down usually ducks are very eager to get in a corn field..if you was covered up well i would blame it on the following
1-wind
2-ducks knew where they wanted to be already

"A wise indian once said, the more you move the less you will see,the less you move the more you will see"

" I live to hunt, but my wife says i may hunting a place to live"

Ducks are frustrating. Could be they had already eaten and were just out stretching their wings. It's hard to know what those rascals want sometime, and I think field hunting is some of the toughest. gL!
