Wondered if anyone has shot a .25/06 and how is the recoil(kick)?

Good shooting rifle, moderate recoil.

I've had a Rem 700 25-06 for 30+ years (bought the first one I found) & still shoot it. Originally had it set up for groundhogs & used a 75 gr hp. It is deadly at 300 yards, beyond 375 I usually missed more than I hit... No more groundhogs, so I changed scopes & bullets, now it's a long range deer gun. Usually I hunt thick cover & don't need it, but every now & then I set up long. It has accounted for a doe at 325 with 100 gr spitzer and a 9 point at 250 with 117 gr sptizer boat tail. Both went down immedately.

The best thing about the 75 gr bullets is they would shatter no matter what they hit....no danger from richochets which was a BIG concern since where I hunted had horse farms on 3 sides.

Have had one since 87. It is on a Ruger #1 platform.
Originally scoped with a cheap 3_9X by 32 and made my best shot with that setup, 512 Paces on a groundhog. But this was a scratch shot, I walked it in on him and connected on the third one. I never was great on distance judging. Have never tried it on deer but seen the two deer in the above reply by Salty
