I had one of the best days of bow hunting in my life yesterday morning. I got to the farm late (didn't allow for daylight savings time), so I was walking in when it was daylight. As I started down the path to my stand, I caught movement to my left --- 2 shooter bucks scattered, much to my dismay. Naturally I'm thinking, " You dumb ass, get up on time," when I once again catch movement to my left. I drew my bow, placed my 20 yard pin on a deer's vitals, but then noticed a small 8 point rack on his head, so I let down. He was about 10 yards away from me and had no clue I was there! I let him walk off and continued down the path. Another small buck blew at me, which sent 5 turkeys scattering into the air. I got into my stand fully expecting to see nothing after waking up the entire woods. About 9 am I heard agrunt behind me; as I turned around, a doe was hauling ass up the creek, followed by one of the largest racked bucks I've ever seen! The doe stopped 10 yards from me, panting with her tongue hanging. This buck was grunting his butt off the whole time, when I look to the left and see another good buck following the doe's trail. He was probably a year younger than the first buck, but a shooter nonetheless. They both were behind some cedars when all of a sudden I heard the snort wheeze, twice, followed by the popping noise they make when they're mad. Unfortunately, I never saw them again, so they must have made their way up the creek. I figured at least one of them would pursue the doe, but I did hear one of them blow, so I don't know if they winded me or what, but what an awesome day!

I heard 2 snort wheeze while in KS. The second one later took a ride in the truck. It was really cool to hear them. My buddy and I had never heard it. It'll send chill up your back!

Last year was the first time I'd heard a snort/wheeze, and the way it happened really suprised me. I was watching where an old logging road comes into a clear cut. I saw movement coming around the corner of the logging road and noticed it was a lone young buck right away. I sat still (on the ground) and he came on up to the clear cut and stopped, roughly 35yds from me. He looked around for a couple seconds then just did a snort/wheeze. He looked around a couple more times and casually walked on across the clear cut and into the woods. I still have no idea what in the world that snort/wheeze was about as he appeared to be as calm as any deer I've ever seen , but it's one of the experiences that sticks out in my mind from the last few deer seasons.

I thought I heard a snort wheeze once but it was only my hunting partner passing gas.

That's all I have heard all season I must have a nack of pissing deer off ,usually it's when I come down from my tree stand. 3 week's ago while hunting on my mother-in-law's farm in Carter Co. I had seen 2 doe's early but that was it, so I got down at dark and I was real quiet packing up and as soon as I turn on my flash light I got the scare of my life, a loud snort-wheese NO more than 5 yards away, needless to say I didn't have to use my mother-in-law's bathroom when I got back the damage was only done. I am too old for S#@& too happen like that. I am leaving out in the morning guy's for a 2 day hunt in Carter Co. I will post picture's of my Pope & Young kill when I get back or "ol slick head" more than likely. Good Luck to everybody.
