Well got back about 2 weeks ago from Idaho on my elk hunt. Missed a 280-290 class 5X5 on secomd day over looking a 500 acre clear cut. As I was about to shoot an old man came driving up the road straight towards my bull - he bolted and I was laying lead off hand at 600 yards w/ my 300 and coming up short and long. I saw about 25 moose, 2 grizzleys, 1 black bear, some really nice Montana whitetails, some mulies and big ole bobcat! It was a great affordable trip with lots of animals moving - saw 10 elk over all.
Since I have been back I have hunted old faithfull tree stand and stuck another doe and shot a real old spike on Sunday evening at about 40 yards - I brought him in using a decoy with some tinks 69 - it was pretty cool using the decoy and am going to try it again in the morning. I was really proud of flinging an arrow 40 yards with the deer moving - I saw the decoy thing on realtree outdoors on a hunt in South Dakotah.
The funny thing is that I spend all this money on hunting - 2 trips this year - and nothing to show for it but a bunch of pictures and near kills - I come home and drive 15 miles walk 2 hundred yards and kill all the deer I need - I think I am going to focus on staying home next year and baggin a big ole KY whitetail!
