I just saw a Loman/MAD grunt, snort wheeze call on the Bass Pro website. Does anyone have any experience using one? Ever called in a buck using a grunt, snort wheeze?

I've never heard it in the woods myself. I have heard it in a video and saw a hunter call in a big buck with it.

Thanks.

I myself would not use a snort call ever while hunting. When a deer snorts it is alerting every deer in hearing distance of danger. If you snort you might not see another deer for the rest of the day. Thats just my 2 cents worth.

I agree with Mount-n-Man,
If you snort wheeze you are only calling to one deer and that is the dominant buck in the area. If you snort wheeze in the presence of any other deer, they are likely to head for the hills. The only time I have seen it done on videos is when the hunter knows the deer he is looking at is the boss and he can't get him to come to him any other way. Unless you know for sure that you are calling to the boss buck, the call is probably counter productive.

I agree w/ the above response completely.

I had 2 bucks grunt snort wheeze at me while rattling and grunting in KS. The first one I believe was probably the same buck I ended up tagging. If I had one of those calls to challenge him with, the hunt might've been over sooner. I would not randomly use this call, but if challenged by a buck I bel;ieve it might get him within bow range. 40 minutes before killing my deer I had tried to get him to come to the horns and grunt call. It didn't work, but he gave me an awesome snort wheeze. Knowing he was a dominant buck I think he might've came to one, who knows, it doesn't matter now anyway!

I have one, and I do carry it. I've been snorting at deer for most of 20 years.

The only time I snort or snort-wheeze is when I know the jig is up and I just want to toy with the deer. If a whitetail gives a you the big sneeze, and then gets one back, this translates out into a serious cervid mind-game.

I've had does stand just out of range for 10 minutes trading snorts with me.

"You stink!"

"NO! You stink!"

"No! YOU stink!"

etc.

Deer are curious, but they are also proud. If a deer snorts at you and you snort back, you are saying they are, in essence, a non-deer. Deer seem to take this personally and attempt to affirm their whitetail nature to the unseen interloper.

I've tried snort-wheezing too. The best I ever got was a big buck that stood for a while well out of bow range and gave me a few nasty grunts and attempted to annihilate a bush with his antlers as a show of authority.

It's never paid in venison, but it has given me great pleasure.

Grunt, snort, wheeze? that sounds like what I do and try to get out of my system before I get to my stand! I have never used any type of call or rattle but I know several people who do and say thay have had success. Only snorts I have ever heard a deer make are usually followed by a white tail bouncing away from me and a great depression in my heart.

the grunt snort wheeze is a different call than the snort or blowing sound deer make when they smell you or bust you. The grunt snort wheeze is a dominance thing done by bucks. It's a "I dare you to grunt at me again, I'll come over and stomp your butt"!
