Need your expertise guys. Should I take off Friday and hunt with the "last quarter" moon and looks like decent weather...although a little windy or should I tak off on Monday the 8th or sometime later next week to bowhunt? I do plan on taking off on the 12th, but this would be in addition to that. Seriously, I'd appreciate your opinion. Thanks!
By the way, my hunt this weekend was ruined by three dogs chasing a nice buck that came by within 35 yards...doing about 35 miles per hour. I heard them barking for at least 15 minutes from about a mile and a half away so they were running him pretty long. Maybe I wounldn't have seen him if they hadn't chased him, but I hate to see it. One shaggy "house" dog, one blue tick and one fat long black haired dog who was so out of breath he may have keeled over soon after I saw him. They busted out a bunch of turkeys that were still roosted after daylight right around me too. Bummer.

I have seen dogs running deer while I have been hunting and it is frustrating to say the least. When I am gun hunting and that happens it better be a big buck for him to be in trouble with me. The dogs however may not be so lucky:mad:

Next week as Monday should be closer to the 'peak'.

Up here in SW Indiana, I saw an 8-point Buck, on my property, that had a swollen neck. SO THE RUT IS ON IN INDIANA!

Hunt the later so you are closer to the peak, and kill a big un so you can film my LBL quota hunt for me.

Thanks guys for the information. Looks like Monday or Tuesday might work next week because of the fact that in our area it is forecast to be a low of 32 degrees on Tuesday morning. I like the idea of that! I just am getting antsy and want to be out there. Wish I had a whole month to take off.
I hear you Mount - N - Man...what about you? If you don't get one up here are you going to LBL while the gun season is still open?

I probably will go to LBL wheter I get one up here or not. The only thing that should keep me from going down there is if I get to busy during gun season to leave. If I don't get one here I still have late muzzleloading season and LBL gives me a chance at a second buck.

Hoosier,
What county are you in?! I hunt QUITE a bit in Perry, Crawford & Spencer.
Anyway, yep...they're a chasing and ready, but still don't think the does are yet. Looks like cool weather for next week, should be PERFECT timing!!!
