How long do you guys & gals stay in the woods while deer hunting? I'll stay from dark to dark, or until I bag one. I know some people like to leave around 11:00 a.m. and go back in around 2:30-3:00 p.m. I always take food & beverage w/me.

I'm a candy...theres alot of mornings I'm walking back at 8. I would like to stay longer, just can't do it, don't have that much desire anymore.

I do try to get back in my stand by 2 in the afternoons.

My biggest buck came in around 12:30...I was really luck to have made it in that early, just one of those things. One would think I would try to spend more time out there than I do, just can't handle it.

During the rut or late season I set in my stand all day .

About 2 1/2 hours p/ hunt except during the rut. I'm not having fun if I stay much longer.

I usually sit for about 3 to 3-1/2 hours per outing. If I am not seeing anything I can't make myself sit any longer.

i'm right there with lab. but i have killed some nice deer in he middle of the day too. shoot, theres alot of fun in coming out, calling your buddies, and yacking at them on the phone and visiting to see how they done. also, nothing like a good hot bowl of chili after a cold morning hunt also. now that will stir your blood just thinking about it. huh? mike

depends on whether or not there's someone at camp making bacon eggs and biscuits...

I like to sit 4 hours for both morning and evening hunts. Once the rut roles around I like to stay on stand all day. After a couple days of hard hunting, might take a break mid-day for a lunch at the truck. I do agree with 12 ptr, it's fun to meet up after the morning hunt to see what has happened with your buddies and to share your hunt. I make it a point to stay on stand on public hunts like Fort Knox or places with heavy pressure...hunters will push deer during mid-day. Last year I missed a great 140 class buck at 1:00pm after an all morning rain let up... I love every minute on stand, it's about the entire experience and being out enjoying nature away from all the stress and civilized hassles... Good luck to all this November...Stay out there...

It really depends on how I feel that day. If it just seems like it's going to be a good day and I've had plenty of sleep, then I may stay out all day. On the other hand, if it's warm, windy, and I'm sleepy, hungry and aching, then I may only be out there 3hrs in the morning and 3hrs in the evening.

On the average day though, I just try to stay out about an hour longer than what I think most other hunters will, then I go eat and maybe take a very short nap, and then try to get back in the woods at least an hour before everyone else goes back. Usually this means staying until 10-11am and getting back in the woods around 1pm. Since I usually hunt at home, it's pretty easy to work with a schedule like because the house is always 3/4mi or less away. By trying to stay out a bit longer than most people and then getting back in before them, I hope to get one pushed to me. However, I must admit that as far as I know, I have never had a good buck get pushed toward me. It seems the mature bucks just get somewhere and hide and will not run unless you're right on top of them. Lots of does get pushed around though.

During gun season if the weather cooperates I stay all day. I've shot most of my deer between 10 and 2.

I'm lucky if I can make it 4 hours. I just hurt too bad if I sit longer.

I usually am back at the cabin by 10 or 11a.m and then nap until around 12:30 or 1p.m. and then return until dark. I have found that if I stay too long, I become fidgety and less observing and at those times is when I will spook deer or miss a golden opportunity to bag Ol' big boy......

Im an all day sucker for the first 3 or 4 days...then i usually come out for a couple hours around lunch and try to make it to the store where the hunters congregate to catch up on stories, misses, and see whats in the back of everyones truck...thats what i miss about ky deer season....i know its easier to check'em in over the phone but i always liked seeing everyone at the little store checking in there deer....getting the little pic up on the stores wall for the season........ah yes....the good ole days........good luck out there this year......be safe
