Boys, we really hit em hard in Ballard Cty Sunday a.m. I was across from the refuge and we got into some of the best duck hunting I've had in a long time. The refuge is holding a whole lot of new ducks.

We didn't call at these ducks at all. Just set up the roboduck and covered up. Also, they wouldn't finish. They came just into range on their last pass.
Good luck.

Hunted Ballard Thrusday morning in the fog with 50 degree weather. Had limit of mallards and 1 woodie by lunch hunting over flooded corn. Saw lots of duck - mostly mallards, a few pintails and woodies, loads of snows, but few Canadians.
Ducks didn't appear to notice roboduk. Most circled until they came into range. A few came right in and landed in the corn. It was a good day!
The refuge is absolutely full of ducks. Saw very few canadians there, however.

Mossyhorns. I was in Ballard and everything you described sounds like you were in the blind next to me. And the same thing with the roboduk etc. Were you with a doctor?

Yea, we've been whackin' 'em pretty good here in Ballard since the thaw. Looks like it is going to stay that way 'til the end of season. We've been doing pretty good at my place on Mayfield Creek. Doesn't look like the geese are going to make it though. With temps staying in the mid 40's in Illinois they just aren't going to leave.

I'm headed back down next weekend with some guys from the Ky. Fish and Wildlife Foundation. Hopefully, we'll get into the birds again. I'm not sure where we're hunting yet though.
Hunted a cornfield in Clark Cty. this a.m. for the geese. Lots of birds but horrible conditions. Bluebird day and we stuck out like a sore thumb in the frost. I'm yet to pull the trigger on a honker all year, which is a real rarity around Central Kentucky. That kind of year though.
Good luck.

Nope, CEO, it twasn't me. I wasn't with a Dr. unless that dog had more education than I thought. I was on a private farm with a couple of the owners near Axe Lake. It sure was good!!!
